sintered stone

With their excellent physical properties, rock slabs have become a super new star among environmentally friendly materials, and are highly respected and loved by designers. It is widely used in building facades, indoor floors, walls, bathroom spaces, cabinet countertops, furniture panels, and other fields.

Product Details

Rock slab, called sintered stone in English, is sintered dense stone. The main components of rock slabs are the clay, feldspar powder, and silica, which are pressed with a press of more than 10,000 tons (more than 15,000 tons) and fired in a kiln at a high temperature of 1200 ~ 1500 ℃. The sintering process is more complicated. It is to reproduce the natural generation process of natural stone for thousands of years in a few hours. The special manufacturing process of the rock slab makes its various properties very excellent.

01-1 The performance of the rock slab

As a new material that breaks through the concept of traditional ceramics, rock slab has the following performance advantages compared with other traditional materials:

1) Environmental protection and health: The rock slab is made of purely natural materials, and the production process does not release any toxic or polluting substances. It can be simply crushed and recycled, and it is 100% recyclable. It thoroughly follows the sustainable development of green environmental protection.

2) Fire resistance and high-temperature resistance: The rock slab can be fired at high temperature without smoking, discoloring, shrinking, breaking, or emitting any gas or odor. Its fire resistance and high-temperature performance have passed the A1 fire protection standard. It is determined that when applied to the surface of the cabinet, it will not deform when directly contacting high-temperature objects.

3) Ultra-high hardness and scratch resistance: The hardness of the rock slab is extremely high, with Mohs hardness reaching level 6, and the characteristics of wear resistance and scratch resistance can be directly tested with a steel knife for scratching, and it is not easy to deform.

4) Large, light and thin: “Large” means that the size of the rock slab is larger; “light” means that the weight of the rock slab is relatively light, which is convenient for transportation and paving; “thin” means that the thickness of the rock slab is very large. Thin, the thinnest is 3 mm. The rock slab adopts a special process to achieve the extreme limit of the board. It can be made into super large specifications with extremely thin thickness. The maximum specification is 3200mm×1600mm, and the thickness can be customized from 3 to 20mm. The weight of the product with a thickness of 3mm is only per square meter. 7.8kg, easy to transport and install.

5) Flexible customization and all-around application: The rock slab can be cut, drilled, polished and other deep-processing at will like stone, so it can be widely used in various custom home furnishing fields. Because the rock slab has fewer impurities, small particles, and few additives during production and processing, it also has a certain degree of light transmission, and its diffuse light penetration rate can reach 2.5%, which provides for the design of other interior decorations such as building curtain walls, stairs, and background walls. More space.

01-2 The difference between rock slab and other solid surface materials

1) The difference between rock slab and ceramic tile

Slate is often mistaken for only larger tiles. In fact, it is not only larger than ceramic tile slabs, but also has obvious differences with ceramic tiles in terms of raw materials, technology, physical properties, and application range.

The raw materials for ceramic tile production are mostly mixed with clay and quartz sand, and then undergo a series of processes such as grinding, mixing, and pressing. The rock slab is mainly made of clay, feldspar powder, and silica, and adopts all-body technology to make the surface and the inside the same.

Ceramic tiles are mainly made by the process of grinding, mixing, pressing, glazing and sintering. In the process of a rock slab, it is pressed by a press of more than 10,000 tons and then fired at a high temperature of 1200℃. The process determines the quality so that the rock slab is More detailed.

2) The difference between rock slab and natural stone

The formation of granite is uncertain. It is composed of randomly selected natural minerals from the earth. The impurities in the granite composition will form micropores. These micropores will make the surface very easy to be contaminated with dust and dirt, which will change over time. Causes the color to darken.

As a kind of sintered stone, a rock slab is composed of precisely formulated ingredients. The aseptic production environment and vibration compression process tightly compress the particles to the point where the material is almost impervious to water, and the water absorption rate is only 0.02%.

3) The difference between rock slab and quartz stone

Quartz stone is made by pressing with an average of about 93% of the quartz crystals, supplemented by unsaturated resin and color additives. Because the resin is added during the production process to make the quartz sand tightly combined, it is generally not recyclable.

The rock slab is an artificial stone composed of purely natural minerals and no resin binder, which means that the material can be decomposed and reused. Therefore, the environmental protection of the rock slab is better than that of quartz stone, and the high-temperature resistance is not easy to break the plate.
